The purpose is to provide encouraging Christian events through fishing, BWCA trips and outfitting, canoeing, camping, hiking, firearms safety training, and winter activities such as ice fishing and cross country skiing. GEM takes time to share the hope we have in Christ with young people at our events. GEM has four week long fishing camps on Boy Lake, 200 miles north of the Twin Cities. Fellowship of Christian Anglers Society (FOCAS) was founded in 1983 by a handful of Christian fishermen who desired to worship and serve as disciples of Christ. Among the group was Jimmy Houston, Chris Houston, Hank Parker, Homer Circle, Al Lindner, Ray Scott, and others. They wanted the ministry to serve as a bond between men and to use it as a tool to make sport fisherman into “fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). Since that beginning, FOCAS has grown to a membership of over 2,500 with over 40 chapters nationwide, including the Twin Cities chapter of the Fishers of Men.
