I got out Saturday for one last late ice fling in the metro area and the big slab sunfish came out to play! They were not biting fast and furious, but the size was pretty good! They were biting right under the ice 1 to 2 ft down, you could sight fish without a fishtrap just fine. i got my fish on fatboy jigs tipped with red maggots. Jack got some nice ones on plastics too. he also got a couple of good crappies.

Membership Meeting Jan. 2009
Happy New Year Everyone!
Vice President Lowell Borgen welcomed us, saying that John is in Florida and will miss a couple of meetings. Also Vaughn Blackburn wants some time off. So Gary Ellis lead our devotions.
Gary’s message was about the New Year and what the future holds. This can cause us to worry about jobs, money, our homes etc. Which in turn can stress and drag people down physically and spiritually. Because what we don’t know, scares us. Gary read a short humorous story about worry from a Guide Post book of devotions. Gary closed his devotion with prayer and introduced our speaker Greg Fisher, who is owner of Vadoes Bait located at 7895 Hwy 65. He brought some of the latest electronic flashers and showed us how each one operates, and all the newest features and capabilities. He also shared about the newest bait that they carry for the ice fisherman, and passed around these for us to check out. There were Rod holders and Spring Bobbers and new ways to use them. He shared his knowledge of different kinds of minnows, crawlers and the other bait they have. Questions were answered, and we thanked him for coming.
We closed the meeting in prayer
Respectfully submitted by
Art Halverson
