Jan 19th 2010 2010 Minnesota Fishing Challenge for Teen Challenge

AL LINDNER ANNOUNCES SECOND ANNUAL MINNESOTA FISHING CHALLENGE
Registration Now Open for Minnesota Teen Challenge’s Fishing Tournament-

Honorary Tournament Director Al Lindner is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the second annual Minnesota Fishing Challenge, presented by Mills Fleet Farm. The tournament, to benefit Minnesota Teen Challenge, will be held on June 5th, 2010 on Gull Lake in Brainerd, MN. Trophies will be awarded for, walleye, bass, pike, panfish and mixed-bag divisions.

“With a Maximum of 100 Teams you’ll want to register early. Don’t miss out on the fun; sign up today online at http://www.mntc.org/fishingchallenge/index.html, or call 612-238-6184 for registration forms,” said Melissa Varriano, Minnesota Teen Challenge Events Manager.

Each two-person team will submit an entry fee of $100 that covers a banquet the night before the tournament, special awards and prizes. Each team then raises a minimum of $500 from friends, relatives, co-workers, etc. Last year, teams averaged more than $1,000, and the 87 two-person teams raised more than $100,000 for Minnesota Teen Challenge. All donations are 100-percent tax deductible.

“The first annual event was a great success and will only grow. The anglers’ smiles told the story.” Lindner said. “New friendships and new fishing partnerships were created, but the real blessing was the great effort all contestants made to benefit Teen Challenge,” he said.
“Many of the people who fished this tournament last year participated because someone they love was either in our program or needed to be. It was personal,” said Sam Anderson, Minnesota Teen Challenge Brainerd Center Director.
MnTC currently houses more than 400 students in eight facilities including Minneapolis, Duluth and Brainerd. “The work that we do in rehabilitating at-risk adolescents and adults is critical because it extends beyond the life of the individual resident. Each person is a member of society, a citizen, and in many cases a parent and model for the next generation,” Rich Scherber, MnTC President said.
Minnesota Teen Challenge serves teens and adults whose addiction problems range all the way to those that are so serious they can no longer function in social, family, and work settings. For more than 25 years, Minnesota Teen Challenge has been helping addicted individuals find healing and hope.

Mar 25th 2009 Minnesota Fishing Challenge for MN Teen Challenge

The 1st Minnesota Fishing Challenge for Minnesota Teen Challenge will be held on Gull Lake Saturday May 30th. This will be a multi-species tournament with divisions for Walleye, Bass, Pike, and Panfish. I can’t tell from the rules if there is a combined multi-species division.

Cost is $100 per 2 person team and in addition to that you need to raise a minimum of $500 for Teen Challenge.

Teams have chances for trophies and major prizes, including fishing trips with Al Lindner, a customized Mathews bow, guided fishing trips and more. These major prizes are in addition to the four species category prizes. The top fund raisers sit with Al Lindner at the Rules Meeting banquet Friday night. Al Lindner is the the Honorary Tournament Director.

Full Details @ their website.

Note from Dave Maas: I will not be able to fish this event due to a conflict with the bass fishing club I am in, but I am interested in sponsoring anyone from the Fishers of Men Club that decides to fish this event.  I would hope we will have more than one team involved.   To get sponsor money from me email basspundit@hotmail.com or call me at 320-277-3242.
