Jan 19th 2010 2010 Minnesota Fishing Challenge for Teen Challenge

AL LINDNER ANNOUNCES SECOND ANNUAL MINNESOTA FISHING CHALLENGE
Registration Now Open for Minnesota Teen Challenge’s Fishing Tournament-

Honorary Tournament Director Al Lindner is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the second annual Minnesota Fishing Challenge, presented by Mills Fleet Farm. The tournament, to benefit Minnesota Teen Challenge, will be held on June 5th, 2010 on Gull Lake in Brainerd, MN. Trophies will be awarded for, walleye, bass, pike, panfish and mixed-bag divisions.

“With a Maximum of 100 Teams you’ll want to register early. Don’t miss out on the fun; sign up today online at http://www.mntc.org/fishingchallenge/index.html, or call 612-238-6184 for registration forms,” said Melissa Varriano, Minnesota Teen Challenge Events Manager.

Each two-person team will submit an entry fee of $100 that covers a banquet the night before the tournament, special awards and prizes. Each team then raises a minimum of $500 from friends, relatives, co-workers, etc. Last year, teams averaged more than $1,000, and the 87 two-person teams raised more than $100,000 for Minnesota Teen Challenge. All donations are 100-percent tax deductible.

“The first annual event was a great success and will only grow. The anglers’ smiles told the story.” Lindner said. “New friendships and new fishing partnerships were created, but the real blessing was the great effort all contestants made to benefit Teen Challenge,” he said.
“Many of the people who fished this tournament last year participated because someone they love was either in our program or needed to be. It was personal,” said Sam Anderson, Minnesota Teen Challenge Brainerd Center Director.
MnTC currently houses more than 400 students in eight facilities including Minneapolis, Duluth and Brainerd. “The work that we do in rehabilitating at-risk adolescents and adults is critical because it extends beyond the life of the individual resident. Each person is a member of society, a citizen, and in many cases a parent and model for the next generation,” Rich Scherber, MnTC President said.
Minnesota Teen Challenge serves teens and adults whose addiction problems range all the way to those that are so serious they can no longer function in social, family, and work settings. For more than 25 years, Minnesota Teen Challenge has been helping addicted individuals find healing and hope.

Apr 20th 2009

I went out for the maiden voyage for my semi new fishcat, I have dubbed the great pumpkin, cuz it is so big round and orange.
Andy SBF came out to try some tube fishin, i let him use my ol cat, which held him up great despite being over the size limit!
We got our sunfish on t.h.e. Jig tipped with gulp waxies, i also got fish on a JRs black and chartruse stub grub. The tiny bass and shiners followed me all around. I couldn’t keep em off my baits, but we got some nice sunfish just about everywhere we tried. the crappies were in hiding or wouldn’t bite, I got a couple.
All in all a fun day. I had fun just having my camers ready for some funny video of Andys first tubing adventure, but he did pretty good for a tube wookie!

Apr 13th 2009 Spring panfish time

With the warmer weather comes some good fishin’ I met Casey on the lake , he already had a bunch of fish when I got out there and Jack went out too in caseys canoe
The crappies were on the bite, I had good action on the “float and fly” rig, a small float one foot above a 1/80th hair jig. I sweetened it with a couple of red spikes to tempt the occasional big sunfish that would also be in the shallow dark bottomed bays looking for bugs. I caught more fish than I could count. nice crappies and bluegills
Lots of pictures here:
